Shupe Family Christmas ..Part 1...

I have this in parts because my amazing husband suprised me with a new camera for christmas and so these pictures were taken pre-new camera... I will add the rest later.... There is tons!

We headed up to Stanley Idaho (6 hours away, 1 hour out of SunValley) for Christmas! The Shupe's get the cabin for christmas every 6 years so this was our 2nd time. Last time we went I was doing shots in my stomach preparing for In vitro, Wow, how things have changed! 6 years later, i have 3 healthy kids! We headed up on Dec. 23rd, we arrived at about 5:30 pm, just as the sun was going down and found that the road to the cabin was covered in 3 feet of snow and there was no way we could drive in, so the boys got on the snowmobiles, went and started a fire at the cabin and then began hauling all our food, clothes, christmas and bodies on snowmobiles to the cabin, it took about 4 hours in about 4 degrees of weather, freezing but so worth it! That night most of the cabin was able to warm up, I think it was 30 degrees inside the cabin when we got there so it was  a chilly night, except We put Ella in a room all by herself and turned the little room heater on, she was sweating so bad in the morning, so she stayed plenty warm! The cabin did warm up by afternoon on Christmas Eve. It was an old fashioned christmas,  we cut down a beautiful tree, decorated gingerbread men to hang from the tree, went sledding and just enjoyed being together with family. I loved it. there is no cell phones, internet or cable at the cabin so we really are away from everything. Christmas eve we enjoyed a yummy dinner, opened PJ's, read and watched the nativity  and the kids went to bed, while santa and his elves worked and watched Christmas Vacation . The kids were so excited. Parley woke up a couple of times that night, I really don't think he slept much. he finally crawled in bed with us at about 5:00 am, and then I had to wake everyone up at about 7:30. We had a little family prayer and then let the kids go see if santa found us at the cabin. He definitely found us and the kids had a wonderful christmas! We all stayed in our pajamas all day and just played and enjoyed the warm fire, we ate a delicous turkey dinner and just lounged around all day! it was seriously the best. The next day was sunday and we had to snowmobile to church, it was freezing and a little hard to straddle the snowmobile in a skirt but we made it! we lounged around all day again, played in the snow and just enjoyed being with family! The next week we just did more of the same stuff, we made an awesome sled hill, enjoyed being pulled behind the snowmobiles, dug a snow fort, ate more than we should have, trav and Kp and his dad went on  a couple of all day snowmobile rides, while we played Monopoly and did puzzles at the cabin , we played a lot of the wii and games at night when the kids were snoozing! I think the last 3 days we were there the temperature never rose above zero and i think the lowest we got was about -25, it was pretty cold, but the cabin stayed plenty warm with Grandpa Shupe in charge of the fire, I think it was like 85 degrees in the cabin, very warm! It was the perfect christmas vacation!  So glad to spend it with family, although I did miss my own and can't believe that next christmas, my mom and dad will be home! What a wonderful time of year, it is hard to get back to reality but i love the new year because it is a fresh start, and we just have the chance to better ourselves, which is what I am hoping to do this year!! I hope everyone's christmas was as great as ours! Happy 2011!
